It has the most satisfying gameplay loop Housemarque has crafted to date, which says a lot considering the studio’s pedigree. Returnal is an excellent video game flirting with perfection. And yet, Housemarque’s masterpiece - without question the best and most promising game of the brand-new console generation for the time being - takes things a step further by weaponizing that eerie sense of recognition against the player and protagonist alike. In a genre where déjà vu is more of a feature than a bug, it makes sense that Returnal doesn’t feel any pressure to disguise its genealogy. Definitely a must-have game for the PlayStation 5. Housemarque’s Returnal is a brutal rogue-lite that constantly keeps the fun coming through its well-thought-through item system that is exquisitely balanced and its randomized gameplay design that feels fresh after every death. Discover Selene’s story and her connection with the planet Atropos.A ton of items, weapons, parasites, relics, buffs, and currencies to discover to help you on your journey some are lost after you die but some are permanent and can help your runs down the line.The enemies in Returnal shoot an overwhelming number of bullets, dodging in precise maneuvers becomes your priority quickly or you die and make the same mistake again.It would be nice if some of the areas felt more distinct from one another and there are a few tech issues left to iron out. The 70 price tag may be off-putting for some, but it makes a great case for itself thanks to excellent gameplay, an intriguing narrative, and replayability. Rouge lite gameplay: Returnal is a Rouge Lite game meaning every time you die it’s permanent you return from the start, the planet, and the weapons that you get change until the next cycle begins and it changes again. Returnal is a great debut for Housmarque on the PS5.She finds out pretty quickly that the planet is inhabited and the locals are hostile and she is killed but not all as what it seemed she’s now back to where she started her crashed spaceship and the planet itself has changed. Selene an astronaut is chasing after a mysterious signal called white shadow, she follows it to a planet called Atropos but her ship malfunctions, and she crash-lands on the planet, with her ship destroyed all she can do now is chase after the signal.
