A bit of googling and poking around the BIOS settings turned out the solution to do a thorough POST initialization instead of a fast one. I did have problems to have the keyboard working through the monitor KVM to unlock the pre-boot Bitlocker PIN screen. So it's probably a fluke in that other keyboard. And now the problem doesn't occur with this one either. But then I tried with another Apple keyboard, same A1243 model, albeit a little older. I thought initially that it might have been an incompatibility between the monitor and the keyboard. As I said earlier, I replaced the Apple keyboard by an Amazon basics USB keyboard. I have had my new work laptop for 10 days now.

I found two similar threads in the board. After a repair round-trip, the warning is gone and the keyboard works. That’s probably referring to the keyboard.

When the problem happens when switching from the Max to the OptiPlex, Windows shows a warning on the login screen saying that "a USB peripheral was not recognized" (might not be the exact wording, I'm translating from French). I’ve run the KVM Setup Guide several times successfully but it doesn’t solve the problem. happens when going from Mac to OptiPlex and from OptiPlex to Mac. Note that this happens regardless of the source and destination, i.e. It usually takes one round-trip and the keyboard becomes active again, but it can sometimes take up to 5 attempts. I have to switch back and forth between the two computers to "repair" the problem. I don’t know if it stays behind or simply becomes powered down or unresponsive, but the light on the Caps Lock ceases to function. The problem I have is that sometimes, not often but regularly, the keyboard is lost after the KVM switch. Strangely enough DDM installs and works correctly even though says it’s not supported on Mac mini. Which surprised me to have both and USB speed since the USB-C Prioritization is at High Data Speed, but I am very happy with that.

In addition, the USB ports work at full speed - at least as fast as my 16 GB USB 3.0 key can go. I get the full 4K resolution at 60 Hz on both sides, with the Mac having 30-bit color depth. Only other device connected to the monitor is a Logitech webcam (Port #10).My keyboard, a wired Apple Magic Keyboard with numeric keypad (model A1243), is connected to the display in one of the USB-A ports (Port #9).The OptiPlex is connected to the display via the DP connector (Port #4) and the other USB-C uplink (Port #8).The Mac mini is connected to the display via the USB-C/DP 90W (Port #5) connector.I use its KVM capability to switch between my Mac and my work PC, a Dell OptiPlex 7060. Love the picture quality and the fact that it acts as a USB hub.
I recently bought a U2723QE to complement my Mac mini M1, and it does the job wonderfully.
